Castelfranc: a fortified town on the banks of the Lot
Castelfranc is a small commune in the Lot region, located southwest of Cahors in the Lot Valley. A former fortified town founded around 1280 by the Bishop of Cahors, it preserves a rich medieval heritage and a preserved natural setting.
Historical and architectural heritage
Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Church: Built in the 14th century, this church features a Gothic façade and a fortified bell tower. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1920.
Medieval market hall: Located on the central square, it bears witness to the commercial role of the fortified town.
Dolmens: The Castelfranc area is home to several dolmens, including the well-preserved Dolmen of Los-Très-Peyros and the more degraded Dolmen of Pech de Roquebert.
